You may remember me. I used to blog here. I can’t believe it’s been a week since my last post.

Today I was reminded of why I love the internet so much. Google Street View, arguably one of the most amazing mapping innovations to ever hit my computer (or now my iPhone), has inspired over the last couple years a mildly obsessive compulsive behavior that drives people to look for odd things captures as the Google car drives by with it’s omni-prescent lens.

Recently it caught two live action roll players (LARP’ers) engaged in a harrowing battle for domination of the remote control for that evenings Lord of the Rings marathon.

If you don’t believe this is real then I insist you click the link and check it out for yourself. Make sure to switch on streetview and look around if it doesn’t take you there directly.

You got to love Latin American humor!

Some background … The Argentinan and Brazilian soccer / football / futbol rivalry is highly competitive as well as their respective sets of fans. Games between the two teams, even those that are only friendly matches, are often marked by notable and sometimes controversial incidents. Historically, it’s been pretty even (out of 93 matches there were 24 draws, Argentina won 34, and Brazil won 35, … though Argentina only has 2 World Cup titles and Brazil has 5!)…

Before a match in 2007 an Argentinean condom company posted ad to let Brazilians know what will presumably happen to them at the upcoming bout.

Brazil won the match prompting the Brazillian Football organization to run this ad:

You got to love Latin American humor! I hope I don’t have to explain these ads, but it’s one of the best uses of typography I’ve seen… so subtle, so clever… love it!

Avenue Fighter 2008, “Battle for the White House” is a political fighting game that is controlled by the current tweets (messages) appearing on Twtter.com. Once running, the game scans Twitter for new tweets containing either McCain or Obama, and weighs the phrase as positive or negative.

The weighted phrases are then used to determine each candidate’s attacks. Theoretically every fight is different as it’s based on the tweets that are happening at that moment.
