Unfortunately, I don't think Loopt will get much traction with UK users unless it can be integrated with things like Facebook's own iPhone client. Personally, I'd hope that Facebook might consider buying out Loopt or even coming up with something identical themselves, it doesn't really appear like its anything particularly hard to develop. This is precisely the kind of thing that sprung to mind the moment I first heard about phones getting gps chips in them. As for Google Friend Connect and Facebook Connect, I have to say that I'd be far more likely to use the latter. I prefer to only maintain one social network after all.
